Differences between a Traditional and ICF Wall

Whiteboard Series – Episode 1

This is the first episode of our Whiteboard Series. In episode one, we walk through a visual of the differences between a standard wood-built wall and an insulated concrete form wall.

Wood walls are far less structurally sound than their ICF counterpart based solely on how the floor joists are stacked onto the tops of the exterior wood walls. In ICF homes, floor systems are anchored right into the concrete walls, making them secure and strong even in the middle of hurricanes and tornados.
